Portland Parks & Recreation (PP&R) has launched the recruitment for the North Portland Aquatic Center Project Advisory Committee!
TWO WEEKS REMAIN IN THE RECRUITMENT!
PP&R is recruiting 15-20 community members to serve as volunteers on the North Portland Aquatic Center Project (NPAC) Project Advisory Committee (PAC). This PAC will be the first of two advisory committees supporting the NPAC project, and will play an essential role in providing feedback, helping solicit and engage the broader North Portland community, and helping shape a plan for recommendations on the North Portland Aquatic Center project.
The Phase II PAC will be comprised of formal and informal community leaders, neighbors, students, and residents. Building upon the inclusive approach initiated in early stages of engagement and outreach the PAC will be a representation of a culturally diverse North Portland, and - will center Black people, Indigenous people, people of color, immigrants and refugees, LGBTQIA+ people, youth, older adults, people with disabilities, and people with low incomes.
Phase II PAC tasks and activities will include:
- Elevate and confirm community priorities for site selection, aquatic center programming and schematic design.
- Serve as a community liaison between PP&R and the greater North Portland community.
- Provide feedback and input on ideas, site selection, programming, and design concepts of the aquatic facility.
To remove barriers to your participation; childcare, interpretation, bus passes, and accommodations in accordance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) will be provided as needed.
Phase II PAC commitment will include:
- 3-5 PAC gatherings over the course of 5-7 months (roughly October 2022 – September 2023)
- Each gathering will be 2 hours in duration at times that work best for the group
- Multiple Community Open House events will occur during the life of the PAC
- Provide feedback and input on ideas, site selection, programming, and design concepts of the aquatic facility.
Project Advisory Committee applications are due on Monday, September 26, 2022 at midnight.
